Big Game Party Tips:
- Plan ahead. Don't go grocery shopping the day of the game, as certain foods such as chips may be picked over and you won't get the best selection. Also, pick up produce such as avocados a couple days in advance to ensure that they will be perfectly ripe in time for the party.
- Kick-off is at 5:25 p.m. (CT), but the pre-game show begins at 4:30 p.m., so plan on guests arriving early.
- Mix warm and cold appetizers. Some guests will go for the hot goodies first, while others may graze all day. Prepare for both with warm and cold, or room temperature, dishes such as David Carr's Touchdown Chipotle Guacamole.
- In advance, prepare as much as you can so that you can enjoy the game. No super fan wants to be stuck in the kitchen, and half the fun of the Big Game is watching the commercials.
- Minimize clean up by serving food on paper plates representing the team colors.
Fun Facts:
- This year, 43.5 million pounds of avocados will be eaten while watching the Big Game.
- That's enough guacamole to cover Reliant Stadium, end zone to end zone, more than seven feet deep.
- David and Melody Carr have a luxury box at Reliant Stadium, and during every home game, Melody makes sure there is guacamole for her guests.
