How to Prepare Avocados to Make

Cutting & Storing Hass Avocados
Want the basic steps in how to make guacamole, avocado dip and other Hass Avocado recipes? You’ve come to the right place. Here’s the safe and proper way to cut, seed, peel and store Hass Avocados.
1. Gently rinse unpeeled Hass Avocados under cold running water.
2. Place the avocado lengthwise on a secure surface. Hint: place a clean dish towel on your counter or under your cutting board to prevent slipping.
3. Hold the avocado securely with one hand as shown in the photo.

4. Slice slowly down the center lengthwise around the seed, starting at the narrower end.

5. Holding the avocado in the palm of one hand, use your other hand to twist and rotate the two halves apart.
6. Remove the seed (or leave it in if you plan to store one half) by slipping a spoon between the seed and fruit. Gently work the seed out of the fruit.

7. Cut into wedges as shown in photo and peel away the skin. Now you’re ready to mash, dice or slice.

9. To keep guacamole or sliced avocado from turning brown, drizzle with lemon or lime juice.

10. To store unused portions of sliced avocado, drizzle with lemon or lime juice, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and store in an air-tight container in your refrigerator for up to two days. If the surface browns during storage, simply slice it away.
